Salvia Officinalis or Sage
Sage also known as Salvia Officinalis is a perennial plant that grows up to 60 cm in height. 

It is somewhat white and woolly and it also has a strong roots and branches. The stem is square and finely haired. 

The floral leave are oblong ovate or ovate-lanceolate in shape. The colors of the flower are red, purple, blue or white and in whorls that forms terminal racemes.

Medicinal Benefits of Sage:

  • Effective for stomach problems, vomiting, gastric flatulence and headache resulting from indigestion.
  • It also whiten and strengthen the teeth.
  • Amazing reliever of inflammation of the gums, mouth ulcers, eczema, sores, varicose veins and ulcers.

  • It also cure sore throat and tonsillitis.
  • Cures mosquito and other insect bites and bees or wasps stings.
  • Effective for nervous conditions, trembling, depression and giddiness.

  • Making hot tea 10 grams sage for 1 liter water and 4 to 5 cups daily is good medicine for the first set of illnesses stated above.
  • Fresh leaves are used as a rub to the teeth to make it white.
  • Decoction of the flowers are a good gargle for mouth ulcers, sore throats and tonsillitis.
  • The decoction of the whole plant is effective for the 3rd set of illnesses above.
  • The pounded leaves are great for the mosquito and other insect bites and it is only applied externally.
  • Infusion of the leaves of the sage and flowers in 10 grams for a 1 liter of water and taken 1 cup a day is good the last 2 sets of illnesses stated above.
