Smaller and far less acidic than regular oranges, mandarin oranges are a loose-skinned subspecies of the common orange.
The term "mandarin" was adopted by the fruit after it made its way across China from its presumed country of origin, India. A new moniker, "tangerine," was given to them after they arrived in the Moroccan port of Tangier through England and a subsequent Eurotour to Italy.
Here are some of the health benefits of Mandarin Oranges:
1. Aids in the treatment of uric acid crystals, atherosclerosis, cataracts, ocular inflammation and pain, arthritis, kidney stones, bladder stones, tumors, and cysts.
2. It strengthens bones and increases bone density.
3. Improves gut health and calms the nerves; a win-win all around.
4. Increases muscle strength and tone.
5. Used to treat infections, inflammatory conditions of the nerves, and scurvy.
