CROWN PLANT (MADAR) - EFFECTIVE MEDICINE FOR ABDOMINAL PAINS

CALOTROPIS GIGANTEA R. BR.
Crown plant is a medium-sized shrub which grows about 3 metres high. The bark is pale. The leaves exhibiting opposite phyllotaxy are heart-shaped, cottony on the under surface and pointed at the tip. The flowers are simple or compound, axillary or subterminal. The seeds are ovate with white-silky coma or floss. It grows wild in the tropical countries of Asia.

Medicinal Use of Madar:

  • Gives relief from abdominal pains.
  • Ulcers and other skin diseases.
  • Earache.

How to Use the Crown Plants:

  • The leaves are heated over a naked flame and applied as a dry stimulant for abdominal pains.
  • The root is used as a poultice in ulcers and other skin diseases.
  • The juice of the young floral buds is used for earaches.

The root, leaves, and floral buds.

Dose:

As indicated above.

Caution: 

The roots and leaves are used only externally.
