Frangipani or
temple tree is also known as
PLUMERIA ACUMINATE AIT is a medium-sized deciduous tree, with crooked trunk and fleshy branches with milky latex. The leaves are large, stiff and shiny forming a crown. The bark is papery smooth. The flowers are numerous and very fragrant. The fruit is a double cylindrical follicie. The seeds are numerous and winged. The flowers are used in wreath-making and is often offered as an offering to the deities in the temples.
Medicinal Use of Temple Tree:
- Lower down fevers.
- Prevents or cures asthma.
- Cure sores.
- Ease rheumatic pains and swellings.
Ways to Use Frangipani:
- The bark in decoction is used to bring down fever and prevent or cure asthma. The leaves and bark have the same property.
- The decoction of the root is used for sores.
- The milky latex extracted from the plant mixed with coconut oil is used to massage the joints in rheumatic pains.
- Heated leaves are applied as a poultice over swellings.
