Sandalwood: Removes Acne and Other Skin Diseases

Sandalwood also known as Santalum album Linn is a small tree that usually grows in a tropical country, particularly in India. The wood has a different colors depending on the age and kind of tree. 

The leaves are opposite, oval or lanceolate in shape, and smooth on both sides. The flowers of sandalwood are very small, with numerous racemes of different colors.

It has a rapturous fragrance. In India, the government claims the right overall sandalwood trees and there is a ban on illegal and indiscriminate export.

Santalum Medicinal Use:

  • It calms the nerve and has a cooling effect on the body.
  • It also acts as a disinfectant.
  • Promotes the flow of urine.
  • Removes the mucous secretions from the bronchial tubes.
  • Effective tonic for the heart.
  • Treats problems connected with the bladder, congestion of the liver, and morbid thirst.
  • Chronic bronchitis.
  • For eruptive skin diseases, fever, and inflamed swellings.
  • To relieve itching, and cure acne, and other skin diseases.

How to Use the Sandalwood:

  • For chronic bronchitis, a few drops of the extract of the wood is used in doses of 3 to 6mL in 1 liter of water. One or two cups a day is to be used.
  • 5 to 15 drops of extracted oil can be used 3 times a day and this will take care of the first 6 ailments listed under medicinal use.
  • External use of Santalum, the paste of the wood, or its infusion is a good dressing for eruptive skin diseases. Also applied to the temples for headaches and fever. It is also used in areas of inflamed swellings. 
  • The oil of sandalwood is used to relieve scabies and cure acne and other skin diseases.
