Deadly Nightshade: Infant's Dyspepsia or Indigestion Effective Medicine

Deadly nightshade also known with its botanical name - Solanum nigrum Linn and local name includes: black nightshade, duscle, garden nightshade, garden huckleberry, hound's berry, petty morel, wonder berry, small-fruited black nightshade, or popolo

This  plant is a herbaceous plant that grows up to 50 cm high. The stem is green and slightly three disposed. 

Corolla is white. The fruit is a berry f about 5 mm in diameter, fleshy, globose and dark purple. It grows in waste places.

Deadly Nightshade Medicinal Use:

  • Effective for wounds, sores and ulcers.
  • Relieves abdominal pains and inflammation of the urinary bladder.
  • Amazing medicine for abdominal upset in infants.
  • Cure rheumatic pains.
  • Removes ringworm.

How to Use the Solanum Nigrum:

  • The fresh leaves of the deadly nightshade are used as a poultice for wounds, sores and ulcers. Using the whole plant as a poultice relieves abdominal pains and inflammation of the urinary bladder.
  • The infusion of the leaves is used in enema for abdominal upset in infants.
  • The juice of the solanum nigrum is recommended for ulcers.
  • The paste of the unripe fruits is used for ringworms.

Caution

  • The green parts of the Deadly Nightshade, including the unripe fruit are poisonous when taken internally.
