Teak Tree |
Teak tree also called as
Tectona grandis Linn is a popular tree that known for being a durable which has a great commercial value. It has a large body with the a leaf size between 30 to 60 cm long and 15 to 30 wide. A single leaf could replace a large straw hat. The elliptic or obovate leaves have a rough upper surface and the lower surface is covered with veins and veinlets. The white flowers which are not attractive are found in clusters at the terminal ends of the branches. The fruit is subglobose and four loved with dense stellate hairs.
Medicinal Use of Teak:
- For anuria which is the absence of urine excretion from the body.
- Bronchitis and congestion of the liver.
- As a laxative, for piles, leucoderma, dysentery, headache, burning pain over the region of the liver; expels worms from the body; is an expectorant; cures inflamed eyelids, inflammatory swellings, indigestion, discomfort or pain with burning in the stomach; and removes itchiness of the skin.
- Promotes growth of hair and is useful in checking scabies.
- Promotes the flow of urine.
How to Use the Teak Tree:
- The decoction of the root of the teak is given in anuria.
- The infusion of the flowers is given to take care of bronchitis and congestion of the liver.
- The decoction of the bark will take care of all the disorders listed in section three of Medicinal use.
- The oil from the flowers and seeds will promote growth of hair and s useful in checking scabies.
- The flowers and the seeds of the teak tree are diuretic, or they promote the flow of urine.
